A Sacramento jury in California convicted a rapist who prosecutors said victimized mostly Asian women on all 46 counts, reports Oxygen.
The jury found Roy Waller guilty of forcible rape, sodomy and kidnapping of 9 women over a 15 year period.
“Twenty-nine years of waiting and waiting. Amazing,” said victim Nicole Earnest Payte to KCRA. Prosecutors believe Payte was Wallers first victim in 1991.
The man dubbed the Nor Cal Rapist now faces 15 years to life in prison.
According to CBS13, police arrested Waller in 2018 based on DNA evidence. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in January.
Nine victims waited for more than 20 years for this moment and it is only with the use of Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) and the science of DNA that it has come. This is their day,” Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Grippi said in a statement.
Waller is now 60-years old.
“A lot of work went into solving this case,” Earnest-Payte said to the Sacramento Bee. “It’s a good day.”
