Firefighters found the body of an Indian American teen missing since last Sunday in the San Francisco Bay Area dead in his car.
Indica News reports the bicyclist discovered an overturned vehicle off Calaveras Road west of Welch Creek in Fremont Saturday.
When firefighters rapelled down the ravine, they discovered the body of Atharva Chinchwadkar, 19, inside the vehicle.
As late as yesterday, the family had pleaded for the public’s help in finding Chinchwadkar, reported the Mercury News. He left to buy dogfood last weekend, but never returned. His iPhone had been turned off for a few days and there had been no recent activity on his debit or credit cards.
Indica News reported authorities found no skid marks off the road. A sophomore at UC Santa Cruz, Chinchwadkar aspired to be a doctor.
“I keep calling out now and then, Atharva, can you make tea, and then realize he is not home,” his mom Yashashree said.
