American gymnast Kayla Dicello could medal in the all-around at the U.S. championships tonight.

After Day 1, the 18-year-old sits in fourth place with 55.95 points. She is .2 points behind Olympic medal-winning gymnast Jordan Chiles, who has 56.15, NBC Sports reports.

According to USA Gymnastic’s website, Dicello is from Boyds, Maryland. She currently trains at Hill’s Gymnastics. In 2021, she competed for a spot on the Tokyo Olympic team, finishing 6th in the all-around at the Olympic trials. The committee named her as an Olympic alternate.

In November 2021, she signed a letter of intent to compete for the Gators at the University of Florida from 2023 to 2026.

Dicello has not spoken about her Asian background but she has been pictured in Instagram photos posted by former gymnast Morgan Hurd. In 2019, Hurd posted pictures of herself, Dicello and other Asian gymnasts captioning the photo “asian babes.”

The second and final day of the women’s championships starts at 7 p.m. EST. It will be broadcast on Peacock TV.
