A 24 hour Asian American theater marathon put on by students at Duke University gets underway Saturday night, reports The Chronicle.
The marathon is the brainchild of Claire Conceison, professor of theater studies and Asian and Middle Eastern studies.
Conceison herself launched an Asian American theater group when she was an undergraduate at Wesleyan University.
“I wanted Duke Asian American students to have the experience of expressing themselves through theater and making sure their voices are heard and their talents recognized,” she said.
Two years ago student Rachel Whitney launched Duke Asian American Theater (DAAT) and Conceison stepped in as faculty adviser.
