Tua Tagovailoa makes triumphant return to the NFL after injury

During the 2022/23 NFL season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered multiple head injuries. He was unable to suit up for the playoffs. On Sunday, he returned to the starting lineup and led the Dolphins to victory.

The Dolphins faced the Los Angeles Chargers in their opening game of the season. They beat the Chargers 36-34 in front of an LA home crowd at SoFi Stadium.

Tagovailoa threw 466 yards, including three touchdown passes. According to ESPN, it was the fourth most yards thrown in an opener. His third touchdown pass game with just 1:45 minutes in the game. The Dolphins were down 30-34 at that point but Tagovailoa’s pass to Tyreek Hill put the team ahead 36-34.

“I was just really excited to be out there again,” Tagovailoa said, according to NFL.com. “I don’t think anything else relates to the adrenaline rush that you get when you go out there. You have the fans — even when you’re warming up, you can smell the popcorn. There are just a lot of things that you just can’t really emulate. Being able to go out there with the guys, it was awesome.”
