Nearly three years ago, Anh “Peng” Taylor, who was 94 at the time, was stabbed multiple times in San Francisco. The perpetrator of the attack, Daniel Cauich, has been sentenced to five years of probation.
According to the San Francisco Standard, Judge Kay Tsenin read the sentence on Friday in court. Cauich will also be required to follow a strict behavioral and mental health treatment program.
Cauich’s defense attorney Lisa DewBerry told the San Francisco Standard that Cauich cried when he learned what he had done to Taylor.
“He couldn’t believe he did such a thing to her,” Dewberry said.
According to SFist, court records showed that Cauich had a history of brain injuries, substance use disorder and trauma.

Assistant District Attorney Phoebe Maffei was not satisfied with the sentence.
“[The stabbing] was senseless and horrifying and suggests a quick willingness to do harm to vulnerable people within our community,” Maffei wrote in a document protesting the sentence, per the San Francisco Standard.
Taylor’s family, according to SFist, was also disappointed with the sentencing decision.

Have you heard the saying, ” You don’t stand a China-man’s chance.” In this case it is a 94 year old lady.
it’s totally unfair that the penalty does not fit them crime. what if it had a White female that was stabbed?
You must wonder if the Judge bothered to familiarize herself with the gravity of this crime.
Per the SF Police news media release dated: June16, 2021 the arrested suspect in this crime was booked on the following Charges:attempted homicide (664/187PC),Battery with serious injury (243(d0 PC), elder abuse (368(b)(1)PC, committing a felony while on bail or OR release (12022.1(a)(1) PC). great bodily injury enhancement (12022.7(a) PC), and probation violation (1203.2(a)PC).
I think that this court and judge has made a complete mockery of the (Justice ?) system.
Another Vincent Chin situation where the judge values the criminal and devalues the victim. This criminal was already on an ankle monitor for a different crime when he tried to kill an innocent and vulnerable 94 year old woman. This judge needs to be removed.
